When asked about productivity in meetings (or, let’s be honest, about the lack thereof), I like to say:
CONNECTION OVER PRODUCTIVITY
Now, I know this might upset some people.
“Oh, Neža, you’re talking about connection again like it’s this holy grail for everything.”
Nope, that would be CURIOSITY ;) Yet connection comes close second. I’ve seen in my work that when people feel a …
… genuine connection to themselves
>>> then they set their boundaries better and dare to show up with their talents, wisdom and whole self
… genuine connection to their coworkers
>>> then they feel a commitment to solving problems as a collective, also when things get muddy
… genuine connection to a larger context
>>> then they feel motivated to contribute to what they want to see in the world, also when uncertainty is high.
Imagine these attitudes being translated into your weekly meetings. When people feel connected on these 3 levels, productivity follows.
That is why I say: CONNECTION OVER PRODUCTIVITY.
